Business Tax Receipt Changes or Modifications

Any changes or modifications, such as a physical address change, ownership or name change must be reported to the Tax Collector’s office. Changes can be requested online using BTExpress, unless otherwise noted.

If you have a current Hillsborough County business tax receipt and there has been a change in the ownership, business name or address, a transfer may be requested through BTExpress or in person. Any expired business tax receipts may NOT be transferred. A business tax receipt may NOT be transferred to a new owner if the current owner is an individual professional, contractor, or insurance adjuster.

Any business tax receipt may be transferred to a new owner when there is a bona fide sale of the business. A transfer fee of up to ten percent (10%) of the annual license tax (minimum $3.00 not to exceed $25.00), presentation of the original tax receipt and evidence of the sale is required.

If solely changing the name with no sale of business, please supply our office with verification of the name change and original paid tax receipt. The fees are the same as above.

If you have a current paid Hillsborough County business tax receipt and need to add an additional type of service or additional employees, seats, machines, your current tax receipt will be modified by a representative. Please submit your request via BTExpress  or in person. Fees will be determined by category and/or quantity of addition.


Changes or Update Information

A change in mailing address can be made at any time during the tax receipt year at no cost. Please submit the change via BTExpress or in person.

All changes can be made during the renewal season without additional fees, except when adding or removing services, employees, machines, etc. as those additions may result in an increase/decrease in tax amount due.

Please indicate on the renewal any changes to be made, sign the renewal and submit with the renewal payment. Those changes will be made, and your revised paid business tax receipt will be mailed accordingly.

If you are needing to update services,employees, machines, etc., you may contact our office for new amounts due prior to submitting your renewal payment.

A duplicate business tax receipt may be printed online at any time, click here to look up your business tax account. You may also contact our office by email using taxes@hillstax.org by phone or in person to have one sent to you.
